Butter Bench by Jaina Cipriano

Earlier this year I had the wonderful experience of building this super fun, custom butter bench for Johnny Cupcakes experiential store on Newbury Street in Boston, MA.

It’s there now! Go take a picture on it and tag me on social media!

This one was fun because I got to try out som new materials - from the stenciling, to automotive spray paint. Building something to last is different than building a set - and I enjoy the challenge!

Thrift Finds by Jaina Cipriano

Some of the best thrift finds of the year.

Some of them are for my growing design reference library, some for the studio, some for prop rental + storage.

Trauma Bond Wins! by Jaina Cipriano

Ryan Nunes hosted an incredible night of films about mental health - thank you for bringing so many of us together for such a great night. It’s funny there aren’t more film nights centered around mental health - that’s why we all do this, right?

Honored to have received an award for Trauma Bond - Short Film - Best Set and Costume Design (which I share with Adriane Moreno - for all her amazing costume + set dressing work on this short!)

Making films helps heal me. Maybe sharing them with the world, helps heal you too. I can only hope

Press for music video by Jaina Cipriano

Wonderful to see this video I worked on get some much deserved press!

β€œThe director of my music video for Alice, Ben Phillippo, and set designers Jaina Cipriano and Adriane Moreno helped to crate a beautiful Victorian style bedroom for us to shoot in! We spent most of the day shooting there and then went outside to an abandoned schoolhouse to shoot the last scenes! It was a really fun experience working with so many talented and creative people and I am so happy you liked the results as much as I did.”

Aplomb Gallery by Jaina Cipriano

Cambridge Art Show - BLUE by Jaina Cipriano

Absolutely wonderful show tonight at Cambridge Art Association! Big thanks to Abigail Ogilvy for jurying and Erin Becker for all her tireless work in putting together this amazing gallery + show. It’s worth seeing - go check it out!

Over 900 works were submitted and only 71 were selected. It’s a truly, fantastic show. I am so honored to be in it.

Grand Prize for Trauma Bond by Jaina Cipriano

I am so excited and honored to say that Trauma Bond - Short Film took home the GRAND PRIZE at the incredible Lonely Seal Festival last week!

Thank you to Hammad Zaidi for creating such a wonderful festival + community. And Rachel Thomas for all your hard work putting together the amazing Women in Film and Video: New England block.

And of course, thank you to all the cast and crew that made this film possible. It wouldn’t exist without you all.

Alice - Peggy by Jaina Cipriano

New music video alert!

It was so fun to design this pastel, victorian inspired bedroom - a bit different than what I normally do. Also, when someone cites Alice in Wonderland as their inspiration, you know I’m down.

Some BTS - working with my favorite, Adriane Moreno!

Trauma Bond at PRC Night of Film by Jaina Cipriano

Last weekend I got to show Trauma Bond in Cambridge at an event with Henry Horenstein, Nancy Grace Horton and Stephen DiRado. Thank you to Lesley Art + Design for hosting and Photographic Resource Center for putting this together.

We had some incredible people there and some incredible conversations - it’s always a joy when I leave an event feeling fulfilled and inspired.

Shawna Spirit Award by Jaina Cipriano

It was an absolute honor to take home the Shawna Spirit Award at Shawna Shea Film Festival this year for Trauma Bond - Short Film.

β€œThe Shawna Spirit Award is awarded to a film/screenplay/individual that exemplifies a true independent, bold and unconventional spirit where art is the primary reason for the creative process. Those artists who push the boundaries and norms of the artwork. Truly independent spirits.”

Thank you Skip for all you do for the film community in New England!

If you're curious about Trauma Bond and haven't had the chance to see her yet... you might be in luck. Mark your calendars for October 31...for something special!

COVID Artist Archive at UMASS by Jaina Cipriano

Back in 2020 Jerry Russo interviewed 249 artists about what their experience was like making art during COVID and I am honored to have been included. The oral history collection is housed at the Robert S. Cox Special Collections at UMass Amherst.

You can see my interview below if you'd like! Or hear the experience of dozens of other incredible artists.

"Cipriano, a photographer and filmmaker, is used to being alone, to hibernating, and she likes keeping to herself. So when the COVID-19 lockdown started in New York it gave her permission to stay home, make art, and not deal with anything in the outside world. It was like being on an art residency in her own apartment."
